We arrived here at 7:15 a.m., having entered the crescent-shaped lagoon through the northern passage. There are 2, the northern and the western, created presumably, when the cataclysmic explosion in 1450 BC, blew the centre of the island. What was once the island of Thira sank to the bottom, (or evaporated) in the upheaval.
